Mark Memmott is one of the hosts of NPR's "The Two-Way" news blog.

"The Two-Way," which Memmott helped to launched when he came to NPR in 2009, focuses on breaking news, analysis, and the most compelling stories being reported by NPR News and other news media.

Before joining NPR, Memmott worked for nearly 25 years as a reporter and editor at USA Today. He focused on a range of coverage from politics, foreign affairs, economics, and the media. He's reported from places across the Unites States and the world, including half a dozen trips to Afghanistan in 2002-2003.

During his time at USA Today, Memmott, helped launch and lead three USAToday.com news blogs: "On Deadline;" "The Oval;" and "On Politics," the site's 2008 presidential campaign blog.

Afghan Journalist Was Mistakenly Killed By U.S. Soldier, Report Concludes

An Afghan journalist who was working at the time for the BBC was mistakenly killed by U.S. forces in late July, the allied military command in Afghanistan conceded today.

San Francisco May Make Nudists Cover Their Seats

Walking around San Francisco with no clothes on?

No problem as long as you're not a public nuisance or being lewd or ... (how do we put this?) ... looking like you're enjoying yourself a little too much. (And given how cold it can be there, perhaps arousal isn't a big issue.)

But if you sit down on a public bench or go into a restaurant, city Supervisor Scott Wiener (yes, that's correct) says you should bring something along to cover either the seat, if outdoors, or yourself, when in a restaurant.

Live-Blog: The President Lays Out His Plan For Afghanistan

President Obama is telling the nation tonight how fast and how soon the U.S. will start drawing down the number of troops it has in Afghanistan. He's going to talk specifically about the 33,000 or so military personnel who were added to the campaign there in the "surge" he announced in December 2009, and in broader terms about the length and size of the U.S. mission.

Rig Owner Blames BP For Gulf Oil Disaster

Saying that "as operator of the Macondo well, BP directed all aspects of its development," the owner of the rig that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010 today made its case that the blame for the worst oil spill in U.S. history should be placed on the shoulders of the British company.

Raid On Bin Laden Was Live-Blogged, Though The Blogger Didn't Know It

"Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event)."

With that fairly innocent sounding post on Twitter, Shohaib Athar became, in his own words, "the guy who live-blogged the Osama raid without knowing it."

A computer programmer who The Associated Press reports is 33-years-old and lives in Abbottabad, Pakisan, Athar tweeted throughout the night about what he was hearing — without realizing for hours what was happening.
